SKYLAR GREY WANTS TO HEAL OUR PAIN WITH HER NEW SONG ‘SHOW ME WHERE IT HURTS’ FROM HER SELF-TITLED ALBUM SET TO DROP APRIL 28TH!

Skylar Grey is an Artist who blends together many different genres throughout her songs and albums. She’s delved into Hip Hop, Folk, Rock, and Pop. She began performing when she was six years old, touring elementary schools and libraries singing Folk songs with her Mom.

She’s released a total of three full-length albums since 2006. Her most recent, Natural Causes, released in October of 2016. After five and a half years, Skylar is getting ready to drop her new self-titled full-length album on Thursday, April 28th. She wrote, recorded, and self-produced the album, making her an independent, unsigned Artist. Over the last 5 years, she’s released two EPs, Angel With Tattoos in 2019, and her last one in November of 2020 titled ‘Make It Through The Day’, which featured her single, Dark Thoughts.

Skylar released a Music video for her new single Show Me Where It Hurts, on April 7th. She describes the song as a letter to all of her fans. The song’s lyrics focus on healing your internal pain by letting yourself become hypnotized by the soft Ambient Music, and listening to Skylar’s soothing voice and words to melt away the pain. The video was filmed by Elliott Taylor and takes place on her parents property that burnt down during a wildfire in 2020 in Oregon.

“Show me where it hurts
Let me be the cure
Sometimes life can be a curse
So just show me where it hurts
And I’ll take away the pain
Away the pain

Take your bad days, let me take your bad days
Take your sad face, let me take your heartbreak
Take you far away when you’re in a bad place
If you’re guilty, let me do the time, babe
Someone do you wrong, let me take the beating
Someone break the skin, let me do the bleeding
Take your bad days, let me take your bad days
And all your bad dreams, yeah”

Falling Apart, which is another single from her forthcoming album released on March 16th this year. The Music video, filmed by Ryan McKinnon, takes you on a very relatable journey of coming to terms with Life passing you by as you get older. She shares with us the mournful imagery of her drawing herself on a missing person’s flyer and posting them on the trees in a forest, which was filmed at her friend’s ranch in Oregon.

“Lovers will desert you
Failure will destroy you
How are we to get through
Without falling apart?

Where did the time go? I used to be so young
The years go by faster the older I become”

Partly Cloudy With a Chance of Tears, was the first single released last September. It is a song and video that illustrates the state of mind that is depression. The video takes place on a melancholy, rainy day on an enchanting shoreline in Oregon. The Music video starts off with a view of Skylar laying on the wet sand with a pillow and a sheet. She’s seen walking through the ocean with her sheet and pillow as she’s shivering, before crashing down on the wet sand without moving for a moment before gaining the strength to pick herself up from the ground. The song and video turns depression into a mesmerizing movement of Art and can help you feel not so alone with your own internal wars.

It doesn’t take a lot to throw me off of the deep end
Only one small step and I’ll be over the edge
So keep your comments to yourself, please
‘Cause I already know, already know

I woke up on the wrong side of the bed again today
And I don’t need to see your mirror to see this look upon my face
I’m not quite the ray of sunshine everybody thinks I am
No, the sky is never clear
It’s always partly cloudy with a chance of tears
