On Friday June 11, 2021 DWPresents aired its first episode of The Lab with Caity Babs and Jeris Johnson! It’s a show on creating different versions and mixes for songs! There will be special guests on the show from time to time as well. There wasn’t one on this episode as it was the first episode!
As you may already know, Jeris Johnson is an artist who mostly used TikTok as his platform to show off his versions or remixes of popular songs! He did one for Papa Roach’s Last Resort and caught their attention. They loved it so much that it’s actually been recorded and is a full song that you can find on things like Spotify and YouTube!

The Lab is a show based around Jeris’ work. He goes into depth about what he does and what he uses to make these amazing recreations of popular songs. He uses a program called Abelton to create these masterpieces. On this episode they go with a Trippie Redd song. He plays the guitar and records what he plays into the program. Afterwards he goes through and adds effects to make it sound more like a harder rock song!
As he’s laying down how he wants it to sound, Caity Babs interacts with the chat! Telling them to spam swords every now and then and responding to the chat and answering some questions! She also mentions how if we stick around until the end that they’d be doing something special. While we all sit there and watch the process Jeris takes, Producer Jake Miller puts up a poll in the chat. It asks no cowbell or more cowbell. More cowbell wins with 76% of the votes! There wasn’t cowbell in the song already so Jeris was quick to go through and find one to add to it.
Everyone’s digging the cowbell at first but Jeris is a little apprehensive and doesn’t know if he wants to keep the cowbell or not. He ends up keeping it anyways since chat voted on it. He continues working on the song, tweaking little things here and there. They realize they’re running out of time. Caity suggests to him that he continue working on it after the show is over for the day and show us the finished product on the next episode. Jeris agrees to this, explaining that it usually takes him a good day or two to complete this process.
As the show is nearing its end, Jeris plays what he has for the song so far for the chat again. They then ask how the chat feels about the song so far and the chat is loving it! Caity announces that it’s time for the special thing they mentioned earlier in the show. It’s a giveaway for 2 general admission tickets to any festival of the winners choice. All the chat had to do to have a chance to win was spam “THE LAB” in the chat. It goes on for a minute or two and then Caity calls out therainbowllamacorn as the winner! Yes that’s me! The one writing this article! I was immediately swarmed with many congratulations from the chat and the Space Zebra Discord channel!
They end the show with saying they’d be back with the finished song the next Friday, they say their goodbyes and it ends!
