Alptraum are a German/American Black Metal band based out of Tampa, Florida. The band is made up of vocalist [and] bassist Dragana, guitarist Draven Democide, and Zagros, who plays piano, synthesizer, and live drums.
In our interview Draven Democide revealed that he feels their sound is Ritualistic Black Metal that is symphonic, atmospheric, and ambient. He describes it as a new era of Fifth Wave Black Metal, producing the same substance that their Black Metal forefathers have.
Alptraum have two full length studio albums out and are currently working on new material. Their debut album, Das Weinen der Natur, translates to The Cry of Nature. Dragana shared the deep meaning behind the title in our interview. Das Weinen der Natur was released on December 21, 2017, it features tracks Teufelswurzeln and the melodic and doom encompassed ballad Schwanz. The album was recorded & produced by Alptraum, mixed by Zagros, and mastered by Black Matter Mastering.
On May 08, 2021, Alptraum released their follow up record Das Ende der Menschheit, which translates to The End Of Humanity, which Dragana also shared the meaning behind.The album features nine hauntingly dark and beautiful tracks including Kuthalu’s Lakaien, White Wolf , a song Draven Democide shares has special meaning to him, and Hexe ohne Namem, the song Dragana feels she connects with the most on the album because she dedicated it to her Mother. Das Ende der Menschheit was recorded and produced by Alptraum, mixed by Zagros, and mastered by MasterSound Tampa. The cover Art was designed by Dragana, who also designed the Alptraum logo.
