Chaos Doctrine formed in 2011 and are based out of Johannesburg, South Africa. The band consists of drummer Hannes Matthysen, bassist and backing vocalist Phil Carstens, guitarist and producer Alec Surridge, and vocalist and mastermind of the band, ‘Dr. D’ Daniel Burger. Their sound is a fusion of Industrial, Black Metal, Death Metal and absolutely demonic vibes of Thrash and Speed.
They released their very first album titled, Chaos Doctrine, in 2018 followed by their 2019 EP, The Chaos Chronicles Volume I. Their most recent full length is titled, And In The Beginning They Lied, and was released in June of 2021! They are currently working on their next EP set to release sometime later this year titled, The Chaos Chronicles Volume II.
In our interview, Daniel spoke about the stories behind the songs Blood Serpent God featuring Anna Hel from Russia and Father Grigori, a song about Rasputin. He shares what is next for Chaos Doctrine, what they’re working on for 2022. He also talks about his vocal inspirations and what drew him to doing extreme Music. We also go on an off-topic chat about some of the Gods of Heavy Metal!
