Screaming Females is a Punk band from New Jersey formed back in 2005 by front woman and guitarist Marissa Paternoster and bassist Mike Abbate. Paternoster and Abbate started off as a band called Surgery On TV while they were still in high school but eventually went through several lineup changes which led to them meeting their drummer Jarrett Dougherty and becoming Screaming Females.

They started off as a DIY band, releasing their first 2 albums themselves and eventually signing with Don Giovanni records to release future albums. They have been with DG records ever since and have released 6 albums under the label. Their first 2 albums were also reissued in 2009 under DG.

While they may not do everything on their own now Marissa still creates all of their album artwork and the many drawings shown throughout their music videos. The music video for their song Wild off their album Castle Talk shows the trio playing instruments that are actually cool simplistic drawings done by Marissa which makes for a pretty unique experience.
Our very own Rainbow Llamacorn had a chance to catch up with Marissa Paternoster discussing influences, why she chose guitar, mental health, the upcoming fall tour and more!
